Digital text books and <br />appointment scheduling software were integrated <br />into their curriculum. <br />• Culinary Arts added an outside catering operation <br />to construction workers for the new building <br />project. Students learned Point of Sale software <br />in The Cove Restaurant, developed buffets, <br />prepared food for school district events and were <br />engaged in community events. <br />• The Dental Assisting program is a two-year <br />program for IIth and 12th grades. All seniors <br />participated in 5 weeks of internship, where they <br />worked alongside staff in local dental offices. <br />Seven juniors took the Dental Assisting National <br />Boards exam in Infection Control. <br />• The Design & Visual Communications program <br />has increased to its highest enrollment and most <br />challenging curriculum to date. Additional <br />equipment purchases of a classroom smart board <br />and embroidery machines provided new <br />opportunities to learn workforce skills. <br />• The Electrical Department boasts another year of <br />above 95% attendance rate. A database of local <br />electrical contractors is under development for <br />cooperative education opportunities. A goal to <br />design and keep pace with the new school <br />building was used as a learning experience. <br />• The Engineering Technology Shop is phasing in <br />a 3D modeling/design software certificate <br />program to their curriculum. Sophomores began <br />certifications in AutoDesk Inventor and juniors <br />will begin a dual -enrollment class with credits <br />from Cape Cod Community College. <br />• Health Technologies had 61 students, the largest <br />number of students per shop. Juniors passed the <br />state examination, receiving their Certified <br />Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificates. All Health <br />Tech students passed Basic Life Support for <br />Healthcare Providers. Six seniors worked in <br />internships or cooperative education at Cape Cod <br />Hospital in the Emergency Room, IV Therapy, <br />the Maternity Unit and at Rosewood Manor <br />Skilled Care Facility. <br />• The Horticulture program found ways to <br />differentiate instruction such as taking over the <br />responsibilities for grounds maintenance on <br />campus. Horticulture students have qualified for <br />National Competitions for Nursery Landscape for <br />the first time in school history. <br />• The HVAC program completed its <br />implementation of a new online text and <br />workbook and consistently used Google <br />classroom for teaching. For the third year in a row <br />HVAC was the first choice placement by 9th <br />graders after the exploring all shops. <br />• Marine Services contracted with Yamaha Motor <br />Corporation with access to all parts and training <br />materials and certifications for students. <br />Relationships with local marine businesses and <br />public donations have grown the inventory of <br />engines and equipment. Two new outboard <br />engines were purchased to provide exposure to <br />current marine propulsion technology. <br />• The Information Technology curriculum provided <br />students with opportunities to achieve many <br />certifications, including PC Pro, Network Pro, <br />Security Pro, CompTIA and Testout. <br />• The Plumbing Shop had 5 seniors and 3 juniors <br />on Cooperative Education placements in local <br />businesses. Industry leaders in the community <br />discussed new technology in the trade. Propress <br />and Megapress were incorporated into the <br />curriculum to give students 21stcentury skills. <br />Academic Highlights from 2018-19 <br />• The Business Education/21 st Century Learning <br />department implemented a monthly newsletter to <br />parents to communicate upcoming projects, <br />employability trends and expectations. This <br />increased parental communication and raised <br />student success rates. This department also hosted <br />an annual Job Fair and the Annual Cape Cod 5 <br />Credit for Life event. <br />• The English Department adjusted the 9th and <br />loth grade curriculum to prepare for the MCAS <br />Next -Gen Practice Test. All students passed the <br />English and Language MCAS. <br />• The History department put a greater focus on <br />Civics and government to better align with the <br />new state frameworks and legislative decisions. <br />Several Civics conferences were attended. The <br />department continued to focus on special <br />activities to honor US Veterans. <br />• The Math Department realigned the 9th and 1 Oth <br />grade curriculum to the computer based Next- <br />
