Carpentry, Electrical and Horticulture; or the STEAM <br />Academy of Information Technology, Engineering <br />Technology and Design and Visual Communication, <br />we want the community to engage with our programs <br />and explore the promising potential of Cape Cod Tech. <br />Town of Mashpee: The Town of Mashpee had <br />43 students enrolled at Cape Cod Tech as of October <br />1, 2018. The assessment for Mashpee in FY19 was <br />$1,088,399. <br />Highlights from Cape Cod Tech <br />2018-19 School Year <br />• Graduated 110 seniors in 2019; nine (9) from <br />Mashpee. <br />• Enrolled 152 freshman; 8 from Mashpee <br />• Cape Cod Tech's technical shops provided <br />services to the public, allowing communities to <br />realize significant savings of more than $242,065 <br />in total labor charges across 17 technical shops. <br />• The student newspaper Tech Talk continued to <br />win numerous prestigious awards this year, <br />including; American Scholastic Press, Colombia <br />Scholastics and New England Scholastic Press <br />Association who named it one of eight <br />Outstanding Newspapers of the Year. The <br />journalist students and instructor Scott Dalton <br />deserve high praise. <br />• Through the generosity of Cape Cod community <br />organizations, charities and family memorials, <br />Cape Cod Tech presented 75 toolships and 39 <br />scholarships to the graduating class of 2019 for a <br />total of $163,825. <br />• Thirty (30) students received John and Abigail <br />Adams Scholarships; 4 from Mashpee. <br />• The National Technical Honor Society honored <br />58 students; 5 from Mashpee. <br />• A one-year follow-up survey for graduates of the <br />class of 2018 showed 84% of respondents <br />continue to reside on Cape, 43% were employed <br />in their learned trade and 32% of graduates were <br />continuing their education. <br />• SkillsUSA is a national student organization <br />serving more than 395,000 high school, college <br />and middle school students enrolled in training <br />programs in trade, technical and skilled service <br />occupations. SkillsUSA is a huge part of the of <br />the Cape Tech experience combining technical, <br />academic and employability skills. Cape Cod <br />Tech had more than 100 students participate in <br />the district and state competitions and won 21 <br />medals. Three (3) SkillsUSA students were from <br />Mashpee <br />• "FFA" (Future Farmers of America) is a national <br />career and technical student organization based <br />on middle and high school classes that promote <br />and support agricultural education. This year <br />Cape Cod Tech's 17 student participants exceed <br />expectations winning their second state <br />championship in the hardscape event and 13 <br />medals in various event. <br />• The Cooperative Education program placed a <br />total of 80 junior and senior students with local <br />businesses, enhancing their skills through Co -Op <br />placements and internships. The program also <br />sponsored the 6th Annual Student Job Fair with <br />51 employers seeking to hire skilled students. <br />• The Athletic Department offered a "no -cut, no - <br />fee" program in which all students can participate <br />without fees. The following sports were offered: <br />baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross-country, <br />football, golf, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, <br />tennis and volleyball. <br />Technical Highlights from 2018-19 <br />• All students achieve OSHA certification in their <br />technical program in loth or l lth grade. <br />• In Auto Collision, 140 jobs were performed <br />resulting in $70,000 savings to the public. <br />Outreach projects were completed for Cape Cod <br />Cares for the Troops, U.S. Park Service and Girls <br />Scouts. All seniors achieved Chapter 74 Auto <br />Collision certification. <br />• The Auto Technology program achieved ASE <br />accreditation (formerly known as NATEF) this <br />year. Two seniors competed in MA Auto Dealers <br />High School Skills Competition, taking 2nd place <br />at the state level. <br />• The Carpentry Department uses the National <br />Education & Research Construction curriculum. <br />This year the shop had 5 females enrolled and 6 <br />students on Co -Operative placements. <br />• In the Cosmetology program all seniors passed <br />the Cosmetology State Board Exam. The <br />program hosted speakers from salons and visited <br />117 <br />
