The CEDS was submitted to the US Cape Cod Regional Technical <br />Economic Development Administration (EDA) in June High School <br />and subsequently approved. <br />An approved CEDS is necessary for Cape Cod to <br />retain its designation as an Economic Development <br />District and be eligible for US EDA funding to build <br />infrastructure, support planning and technical <br />assistance, and establish revolving loan funds. <br />www.capecodcommission.org/ceds <br />License Plate Grants <br />The Cape Cod Commission, on behalf of <br />Barnstable County and the Barnstable County <br />Economic Development Council, administered the first <br />round of license plate grants under newly established <br />guidelines. Funding is provided through the County's <br />share of Cape and Islands License plate revenues in <br />support of economic development. <br />Proposals were sought from local or regional <br />governmental or nonprofit agencies for projects that <br />support a resilient and sustainable regional economy <br />on Cape Cod, including economic development, <br />housing, land use, natural resource protection, climate <br />change and coastal resiliency initiatives. <br />The $30,000 in micro grants were awarded in <br />November 2019 to three of 15 applicants. Major grants <br />are expected to be announced in early 2020. <br />Early retirement <br />On May 15, 2019 the Cape Cod Commission said <br />goodbye to five long-time staff members who took <br />advantage of an early retirement program offered <br />through Barnstable County. Deputy Director Patty <br />Daley, Chief Planner Sharon Rooney, Senior <br />Transportation Engineer Lev Malakhoff, Commission <br />Clerk Gail Hanley, and Hydrologist Scott <br />Michaud left the Commission having served for a <br />combined 127 years. Four of the five served with each <br />of the Commission's four executive directors, some <br />starting with the agency's predecessor, the Cape Cod <br />Planning and Economic Development <br />Commission. Water Resources Manager <br />Tom Cambareri retired in January 2019 after 31 years. <br />Respetfully Submitted, <br />Ernest Virgilio <br />Kristy Senatori <br />Cape Cod Regional Technical High School was <br />established in 1973 as a public technical high school. <br />Cape Cod Tech students meet the same academic <br />standards required by the state as our sending schools <br />while also meeting certification standards of their <br />technical training. <br />District Towns: Barnstable, Brewster, Chatham, <br />Dennis, Eastham, Harwich, Mashpee, Orleans, <br />Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, Yarmouth <br />Mission Statement: Cape Cod Regional <br />Technical High School will provide an opportunity to <br />acquire high quality technical, academic, and social <br />skills preparing our students for success in our <br />changing world. <br />Enrollment: For school year 2018-2019, the <br />enrollment on October 1 was 571 students. <br />Budget: For school year 2018-19 (FY19) there <br />was a Total Budget of $14,944,000 including an <br />operating budget of $14,529,000 and capital budget of <br />$415,000. Formulation of the annual budget and town <br />assessments are based on the previous school year's <br />October 1 enrollment. <br />News from Superintendent Sanborn: The <br />excitement at Cape Cod Tech is palpable! Our most <br />recent Tech Night, for prospective 7th and 8th graders, <br />was at full capacity as the interest in our new building <br />and vocational technical education is ever increasing. <br />Our new building is due to open in September 2020. <br />We are eternally grateful to the Mashpee taxpayers for <br />their support of a new facility and citizens may monitor <br />progress at www.capetech.us to view our construction <br />camera. The centerpiece of the new Cape Cod Tech <br />will be five academies that integrate academic and <br />technical programming to increase teacher <br />collaboration and improve student outcomes.
