The Community Preservation Committee <br />recommends approval of Article 9 by a vote of 8-0. <br />The Board of Selectmen recommends approval of <br />Article 9 by a vote of 4-0. <br />The Finance Committee recommends approval of <br />Article 9 by a vote of 6-0. <br />Motion made by Selectmen John Cotton. <br />Motion: I move the Town vote to appropriate and <br />transfer the sum of $123,500, from the Community <br />Preservation Fund 10% Open Space/Recreation <br />Reserve in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. <br />Chapter 44B, §5 for the purpose of funding proposed <br />Improvements to Attaquin Park to include the <br />construction of a half basketball court, the installation <br />of a shade shelter in the picnic area and the installation <br />of additional playground equipment, including <br />necessary costs and expenses related thereto, as <br />recommended by the Community Preservation <br />Committee. <br />Motion passes unanimously at 7:35 PM. <br />Article 10 <br />To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer <br />from the Community Preservation Fund 10% Historic <br />Reserve in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. <br />Chapter 4413, §5 $285,000 for the purpose of funding <br />the Mashpee War Monument, Community Park <br />Project, including necessary costs and expenses related <br />thereto, as recommended by the Community <br />Preservation Committee, or take any other action <br />relating thereto. <br />Submitted by the <br />Community Preservation Committee <br />Explanation: A goal of this project is to honor, <br />recognize and pay tribute to all veterans from the Town <br />of Mashpee to ensure their service and sacrifice to our <br />country is made visible and never forgotten. The <br />monument will be located at the Community Park <br />visible from Route 130, Main Street in the heart of the <br />Mashpee community. Six bronze sculpted military <br />logos for each branch of service will be depicted on the <br />black etched monument where names would be <br />organized alphabetically by conflict. Flagpoles are <br />planned on site acknowledging the American Flag, the <br />Town of Mashpee Flag and the Wampanoag Flag. In <br />addition, benches, lighting and new pathways would <br />be incorporated into the design. <br />The total cost of this project is $300,000. Through <br />SHRAB granting funding $15,000 has been secured to <br />complete this phase. It is anticipated the project would <br />be completed to compliment the 150" Anniversary of <br />the Town of Mashpee in 2020. A CPA award in May <br />of 2018 supported landscape architectural services. Chapter 4413, §5 for the <br />purpose of funding the Mashpee War Monument, <br />Community Park Project, including necessary costs and <br />expenses related thereto, as recommended by the <br />Community Preservation Committee. <br />Motion passes unanimously at 7:37 PM. <br />Article 11 <br />To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer <br />from the Community Preservation Fund 10% Historic <br />Reserve in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. <br />Chapter 4413, §5 $150,742 for the purpose of funding <br />the Historic Document Restoration Project Phase I, <br />including necessary costs and expenses related thereto, <br />as recommended by the Community Preservation <br />Committee, or take any other action relating thereto. <br />Submitted by the <br />Community Preservation Committee <br />Explanation: The goal of this project is to begin the <br />restoration of historical documents required by the <br />Commonwealth of Massachusetts to be maintained as <br />permanent records. The documents are in distressed <br />condition and are currently being stored in the attic of <br />48 <br />
