Z <br />Mashpee Select Board <br />Minutes <br />September 11, 2023 <br />WATER QUALITY UPDATES <br />The Town of Mashpee is working with the Town's of Sandwich and Barnstable on the shared Municipal <br />Watershed Agreement. This may represent additional funding opportunities for Mashpee. <br />The Cape Cod & Islands Water Protection Fund board is working diligently to secure the 25% subsidy <br />funding from the State, a critical funding source to assist towns in the clean-up of coastal waterways and <br />embayment's. Many Cape towns have submitted letters in support including the Assembly of Delegates. <br />Cape Cod Aquifund is offering zero to low interest betterment loans tiered at 0%, 2%, and 4% based on <br />income for new sewer connections. <br />The Cape Cod Commission has just released the new flood area guidelines. <br />The Environmental Oversight Committee meeting was comprehensive having presentations by the APCC <br />and NOAH as well as the Directors of Natural Resources from the Town and Tribe discussing matters of <br />importance was well as collaboration efforts to advance funding opportunities for clean water. A slide <br />presentation will be shared with the full Select Board. <br />It was noted the Town and Tribe have been working closely monitoring the various water bodies in <br />Mashpee as well as seeking ways to improve water quality with stormwater management and other <br />projects. Mutual initiatives include but are not limited to, climate adaptation, and habitat restoration in <br />coastal areas. For efficiency and effectiveness collaboration is highly regarded. <br />All Cape towns have water quality concerns. Working closely with the neighboring towns will bring forth <br />progress, but it will take time. <br />TOWN MANAGER UPDATES <br />Invitation from Schools: The School Superintendent has invited the Select Board and Town Managers to <br />attend a tour of the schools on September 22 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. <br />Oran e Shirt Dav Employees will be encouraged to wear orange shirts on Friday, September 29, 2023. <br />Storm.,Preparation: In preparation for Hurricane Lee there was an update in the event the threat is eminent. <br />Monitoring, notification, and shelter areas were amongst the topics discussed.
