6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 7, 2005 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Barnstable CgImly Commissioners—Proposed ordinance/Barnstable <br /> Countstewater Collaborative: (continued) <br /> Mr. Bernado gave an in-depth discussion of the proposed regional <br /> partnership for coordinating and funding wastewater management, <br /> infrastructure development and services. He discussed the benefits of the <br /> regional approach that would strengthen the ability to secure state and <br /> federal funds. <br /> It was noted that a Blue Ribbon wastewater Committee formed by the <br /> Commissioners has been at work since February. The mission statement <br /> agrees to offer a coordinated approach to enhance the wastewater <br /> management efforts of towns,regional government and the community, <br /> and to provide cost effective and environmentally sound wastewater <br /> infrastructure,thereby protecting the Cape's shared water resources. <br /> Further information can.be obtained by visiting the website: <br /> www.bamstablecounty.org/#news. The contact person is Mark Zielinski, <br /> County Administrator. <br /> Library Building Committee—Grant Ap lication: <br /> Representatives of the Library Board of Trustees and Library Building <br /> Committee were present to request the Selectmen approve a grant <br /> application to the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners to <br /> support the new Mashpee Library. <br /> Essential information relative to the $2,551,774 grant was outlined in an <br /> overview of the Mashpe Library Construction Program. The proposed <br /> library in the grant application is 21,943 square feet. It was noted that <br /> current plans could be d own.si ed if the grant were not attained. The <br /> Library Building Committee reconfirmed that they Will not request <br /> additional funds from the Town for the construction of the new library. In <br /> addition to seeking grant funding initiatives,the Library Building <br /> Committee and Friends of the Mashpee Library continue to proceed with <br /> fundraising efforts. <br /> For disclosure,the needs assessment for the physical facility and existing <br /> building deficiencies and their impact on library service was outlined. <br />
