There is one remaining vacancy on the Committee and Roslyn suggested posting the vacancy in the Enterprise <br />and she offered to reach out to paper. It was also suggested to reach out to fellow gardeners. <br />• Funds Available — Kristen Nordstrom and Virginia Scharfenberg. <br />It was reported that there is currently $4,737.11. Kirsten will reach out to Catherine Laurent to see if the <br />funds will still be available come spring as there was mention that Catherine wanted to close out the account. <br />There is a need for new plot numbers identifying the beds at the garden as the current numbers are beginning <br />to become weathered and some of the funds could be used for this purpose. Kirsten will inquire with <br />Catherine to see if the students in the wood shop at the High School can fabricate them for the garden. <br />Mr. Logan asked where these funds came from and Virginia Scharfenberg said they come from a Community <br />Preservation Act grant. He asked if the fees paid for garden plots go into the same account and it was stated <br />that Drew McManus would have the answer to this question. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />0 Information Kiosk and Cubicle Construction by DPW — Kirsten Nordstrom and Virginia Scharfenberg. <br />The Committee determined this is not needed and closed this item out. However, it was brought back up and <br />Kirsten will inquire with Catherine Laurent about it. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />• Garden Cleanout: Second Communication to Gardeners about Garden Clean-up by 11/1/to go out <br />10/16. Final Reminder to be sent out 10/28 — Kirsten Nordstrom. <br />Kirsten stated that she has drafted an email to the gardeners and will be sending it out Friday, October 20' <br />with a reminder email going out on the following Friday. She also suggested a final garden cleanout on <br />November 4t" or 5t" to get the gardeners together one final time to pull weeds in plot 33, along the pathways <br />and to do a final cleanout of the shed. Polly suggested making it the weekend before on October 28t" with a <br />rain date of October 29t" at 10:00 a.m. <br />• Spring Planting Funds— Kirsten to Contact DPW. <br />Kirsten stated this item will be a part of the conversation she will be having with Catherine Laurent. <br />0 Suggestions for the One Remaining Committee Vacancy. <br />This item was covered under Reports above. <br />• Spring Event — Determine Topic and Possible Speakers. <br />It was suggested that the Committee reach out to area businesses and to also advertise the event in the <br />Enterprise. Mr. Gallello said that a date of late February or early March would be a good time to hold the <br />event. The Committee discussed two proposed dates of February 24, 2024 and March 2, 2024. <br />A few topics of discussion that were suggested are soil, organic fertilizing, pest prevention and management. <br />Roslyn Mann stated that she has contacts in Woods Hole that she will reach out to as possible speakers at the <br />
