13 <br />Select Board <br />Minutes <br />April 29, 2024 <br />tAAISON REPORTS <br />EQQ: The Environmental Oversight Committee ins request ing to convene a meeting with the Department <br />of Public Health to discuss concerns regarding the water quality of AsIliumet Pond. The pondleas been <br />diagnosed with the highest level of PFAS concentration. in, the state of MA, and yet, the State has not set <br />standards for public health and safety. With warmer weather, there is a need lbr periodic updates. It is <br />hopeful that additional testing would occur and public notice would be posted for awareness. PFAS is a <br />priority of concern of the EEC. It was suggested. that representation from Joint Base Cape Cod attend the <br />group meeting. <br />In other matters, it was noted the EOC is seeking guidance from the Cape Cod Commission ori thenewly <br />implemented Flow Neutral Bylaw to ensure appropriate implementation and cornpliance, <br />Profbssional,Deve in_ng, -.,teview Conunittee is encouraf;ing the continuance of <br />I qnt.1'r i : The Charter I <br />prol`essiorial development training. Certificates lower the Town's insurafice and credits are received <br />through MIA. It was disclosed the Town Manager encourages prof�ssional development training and <br />reductions have already been realized in insurance costs. <br />JBCC: The monthly JBCC meeting is scheduled next week.. The issue of PFAS will be brought up as an <br />issue of concern as well as the need for accountability. <br />TOWN MANAGER UPDATES <br />Rou.te.1l5,lTaviAg:, Paving is scheduled next week in the area, of Route 151 and Old Barnstable Road. <br />Nigbt work will commence at. 7 pin to 5 ani, and is not exi.)ected to interfere with the upcoming Amnual <br />Town Meeting. <br />ARPA"Bind's..; Remaining ARPA funds are anticipated to be used for the wastewater project in accordance <br />with the Select Board's Previous vote of affirniation. <br />Town. Counselu : General counsel is retiringA on fly 1, 2024. Thn e TowManager requested gt6darice from <br />. ....... .. I I'll - <br />the Select Board in moving forward. It was recommended that a, legal finn, readily available with. a wide <br />scope of services, specifically with an environmental attorney to pursue matters in the interest of the Town <br />ofMaslipee be considered. It was noted the KP Law is a notable firma. It was suggested two firms ineet, <br />with the Select Board for comparison and review in the selection process. In concern with cost <br />irriplicatioi-B, and the types of law finns, it was agreed the Town Manager would gather information arld <br />report to the Select Board at their next meeting. <br />Select Board <br />
