Select Board <br />Minutes <br />July 29, 2024 <br />APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br />Discussion and Possible ActionofPropggpd October 21, 202,4 Town Meetip arrant Articles with Regard„to <br />Wastewater: Wastewater Suvermtendent Jared Meader:„w (continued) <br />Article 910: To fund an evaluation of siting wastewater collection, recharge, and treatment facilities in the <br />Waquoit Bay watershed areas; $150,000 <br />Article #I1: To fund an evaluation of (2) existing wastewater facilities to determine if financially <br />advantageous to convert to municipal assets; $45,000 <br />Article #12: To fund an evaluation of a remote treatment facility in the northern part of Mashpee (Pimlico <br />Pond Road Area); $75,000 <br />The Select Board expressed sincere appreciation to Jared Meader, Wastewater Superintendent in his efforts to <br />bring forth ideas, solutions, and realistic approaches to the matter of wastewater. <br />Discussion and Possible Approval towAuthorize the Town Manager tow Reluest Allahcaton of Nmitroi en <br />Mitigation Funds, held by the Ca ,e�Cad Commission Wto„ $1$3 000 for GHD to Develop Supplemental <br />Analysis for Community Septic Sy stem North of Wakeby Pond: <br />Jared Meader, Wastewater Superintendent recommended the Select Board take action to secure up to $183,125 <br />in Development of Regional Impact (DRI) Mitigation Funds for Nitrogen Reduction from the Cape Cod <br />Commission (CCC). <br />Mr. Meader indicated the funding held by the Cape Cod Commission would support GHD, Inc. engineers in the <br />development of a supplemental analysis to support the Town's ongoing Watershed Nitrogen Management Plan <br />(WNMP). <br />The Town recently submitted a Project Evaluation Form (PEF) receiving an assignment number for sewering to <br />include a satellite treatment facility to reduce the phosphorous load from the Mashpee-Wakeby Pond sub - <br />watershed as well as reducing nitrogen levels in Popponesset Bay. The additional management strategies may <br />result in future opportunities to collaborate with the Town of Sandwich to address other nitrogen needs. <br />Motion made by Selectman Weeden to authorize the recommendation to apply for Mitigation Funds held <br />by the Cape Cod Commission; $183,125 to support GHD, Inc. in conducting supplemental analysis. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br />VOTE: 5-0.
