Unfortunately,
the machines are no longer serviceable.
Ms. Kaye requested the Select Board replace the units with the ImageCast Precinct Tabulators
commencing on November 6, 2024 for use at all elections. After the Presidential Election all machines
would be discontinued, and returned as a trade in for the new equipment.
Motion made by Selectman Weeden to hereby vote to approve the discontinuation use of the
Accuvote (AVPS) Optical Scan voting machines and approve the use of ImageCast Precinct
Tabulators for all elections beginning November 6, 2024.
Motion seconded by Selectman Wyman -Colombo.
VOTE: 5-0. Recent election data shows the 2022 election may not have been legally compliant. To
ensure a valid 2024 election, the Select Board was requested to vote for the passage of a resolution in
demand of a valid general election in 2024.
In other business, Robin Joyce asked several questions regarding commercial fishing, the effects, and the
types of devices to be used along Callies Beach and Great River. It was noted that a hearing is scheduled
on September 9, 2024 regarding this matter.
Cotuit Road Resident Sue Dangel voiced concern with respect to the Diagnostic Pond Study report
expected to be discussed at this meeting. Mr. Eichner was noted to have attended a recent
Mashpee/Wakeby Pond Alliance Meeting to discuss the health of the pond. There is frustration as the
pond is and has been severely impaired for several years. Key initiatives have been stalled while waiting
for this report which is an essential science to guide the remediation process.
