Select Board <br />Minutes <br />August 26, 2024 <br />PUBLIC COMENT <br />As Public Comment continued Matthew Haney, Trustee of Gooseberry Island Trust conveyed concern as <br />the Select Board will be executing the Town Meeting warrant on September 9, 2024. A draft article <br />relative to the acquisition of Gooseberry Island requests a sum of money TBD. The amount being <br />requested is required by Mashpee bylaw §2-:7 to be included in the article. Mr. Haney indicated he is also <br />aware the property is being appraised and'the CPC cannot expend more than the appraised value of the <br />property. If the project moves forward Mr. Haney stated that he is flexible, and he would not proceed <br />with litigation if there is a path moving forward. <br />Lynne Barbee, a resident of Surf Drive spoke about the purple flags placed at the Mashpee Town Hall <br />and at Tribal Headquarters in recognition of Overdose Awareness Day. The entire month is focused on <br />the issue of overdose. Currently, 72 lives have been lost to overdose in Barnstable County. Ms. Barbee <br />urged awareness and made note of the supplies of Narcan available for use at the Town Hall and at the <br />Library. A vigil is also being conducted in the Town of Falmouth at the Village Green. <br />James Storell, President of Sout Beach Cape Estates had questions regarding changes proposed by the <br />Shellfish Commission. The association is in concern and would like to be involved in any discussions <br />regarding modifications in this area. It was suggested that permanent changes be considered on a <br />temporary basis before they are determined as permanent. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Discussion and_Al~,oalofthe Followm�Resigtlaton: <br />_1 v <br />Conservation Commission: Associate Member: Chad Smithw TermnExpw res June 30,E ,2025 ,: <br />Correspondence was received from Chad Smith dated August 14, 2024 resigning from the Conservation <br />Commission as Associate Member. <br />Motion made by Selectman Wyman -Colombo to accept the resignation of Chad Smith from the <br />Conservation Commission; Associate Membership sending a letter of regret to Mr. Smith for his <br />service. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br />VOTE: 5-0.
