Mashpee Historical Commission(MHC) Notes on LCP Document: August 1, <br /> 2024, Monthly MHC Meeting <br /> It needs to be noted that the MHC is a volunteer organization with only part-time <br /> assistant support. Many of the necessary goals listed in this document will re- <br /> quire additional funding to support completion of goals in a timely manner. Alt- <br /> hough Mashpee does not have many "historic" properties those we do have need <br /> to be listed on appropriate registers as well as be given "Preservation Re- <br /> striction." Mashpee just lost an historic site (Conant House/Arlington House Ho- <br /> tel) torn down for a rebuilt of a larger house. <br /> NOTE: The yellow note on the chart requests the Old Indian Meeting House be <br /> removed because it had been relocated. The Old Indian Meeting House and the <br /> One-Room Schoolhouse were both moved and were placed on the National Reg- <br /> istered after removal from an original location. It should be kept on. We are work- <br /> ing with the Tribe and the Cape Cod Commission to have it reinstated. <br /> 6-2: Archaeological Resources <br /> Pg6-3 <br /> Table 6-2 <br /> Samuel G. Davis School YEAR BUILT change to 1939 <br /> Chart of Burial Grounds: <br /> The Select Board at the request of the MHC change the official names and they <br /> need to be updated on your chart: <br /> Ancient Cemetery is now: Bourne Ancient Burial Ground <br /> Avant Cemetery is now: Amos- Coombs-Avant <br /> Attaquin and Pocknett remain the same. <br /> Change Heirs of Phoebe Pocknet to Punkhorn Point Cemetery <br /> 6.2.2 National Register of Historic Places <br /> 6.1 Table: South Mashpee School is NOT located at 410 Meetinghouse Road. It <br /> is no longer on the register since it was moved. The MHC is working on getting it <br /> re-registered. <br /> Pg6-6 <br />
