ypINYWM6'9,d
- Town of Mashpee Sewer Commission
16 Great Neck Road North
ra Mashpee, MA 02649
approximately seven months beyond the anticipated completion date. There's some indication that it
may be a couple additional months. We're currently working with the contractor to devise a schedule
and how that impacts connections.
Mr.Towle also asked about the emergency generator. Mr.Wenger responded that it's not here yet, but
it's on schedule.
Chair Harris asked if there were any other items other than those mentioned above that would slow the
project down. Mr. Wenger responded that there are some control components from one of the
suppliers that would cause a delay for the motor control centers if it extends beyond August and it
would push it to the critical path. We have met to identify strategies moving forward so that the
schedule doesn't creep as a result. The supplier extended an assurance of not allowing a further delay
on their part.
Chair Harris asked if we were still on target to take flow January—April 2025. Mr.Wenger stated that is
still an acceptable timing.
Mr. Meader added clarification that the system can run without the mixing units. We can just install
them when they arrive and shouldn't cause delay.
Chair Harris asked for confirmation that there wouldn't be active bacteria introduced until there was
actual flow. Mr.Wenger confirmed that was accurate.
Ms.Sprout then asked for the total annual power consumption expected from the treatment facility.
Mr. Wenger said there was a way to present it, but he would have to get back to the Commission after
completing some research on the matter.
Ms.Castenada asked for clarification on what point in the testing protocol before startup and service
what point the bacteria gets introduced to the system. Mr. Wenger said the equipment will be
connected and integrated as a system and then a clean water test is completed. Following that the
active cultures for the treatment plant is brought in roughly 60 days or less after clean water test and
comes before the final authorization from the State.
2. Town Manager Clean Water Goals and Discussion
Chair Harris welcomed the Town Manager, Rodney Collins, and asked him to share his clean water goals.
Mr.Collins began by thanking the Superintendent who worked with him on the clean water goals and
with the unanimous support of the Select Board, they were approved and moved forward. Mr.Collins
then reviewed and responded to questions regarding the clean water goals. He further stated that
we're making progress and believes that generations to come will thank us for moving this forward in
making a substantial difference to the community operationally and policy wise in addressing a pressing
need.
3. Intermunicipal Agreement(IMA)Status(Michaels Colombo)
Select Woman Michaela Colombo introduced the two Intermunicapal Agreements for Popponesset Bay
and Waquoit Bay.
