Collins recommended the Select Board move forward with the certification and <br />confirmation of the Hiring Process for Robert Tomaino as Director of Natural Resources. Mr. Tomaino currently <br />holds the position of Harbormaster. <br />The appointment is part of the reorganization of this department. As noted by the position description, this position <br />is held by the Harbormaster or the Shellfish Constable and manages and oversees all employees assigned to the <br />Department of Natural Resources. All policies and procedures with respect to the hiring process have been <br />followed. <br />Motion made by Selectman Cotton to certify and confirm the Hiring Process of Robert Tomaino as the <br />Director of Natural Resources. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br />VOTE: 4-0. Unanimous. <br />Roo Call Vote: <br />Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Weeden, yes Selectman Cotton, yes <br />Selectman O'Hara, yes Opposed, none <br />Discussion of Santuit Pond ,Preserve wTrail Improvement Project„Proposal; Daniel Kent, Assistant <br />ConservationA —nt. <br />Daniel Kent, Assistant Conservation Agent met with the Select Board to review the Santuit Pond Preserve Trail <br />Improvement project proposal. Mr. Kent indicated the preserve is open space Land Bank property comprised of <br />trails that wind around various wetlands and steep banks. Two sites need erosion bars to protect and <br />restrict the widening of the trails in certain bank areas. In the addition to erosion bars pressure treated lumber with <br />anchoring will be used in the respective trail areas to improve safety for residents and visitors. <br />Funding for this project would be provided by the Conservation Department for a project cost of approximately <br />$1,200. The project included the installation of native plants to extend the vegetation in heavily travelled areas. <br />The Select Board unanimously approved the project situated on Land Bank property. It was agreed that <br />this project may be a suitable undertaking for the Eagle Scouts. With the Select Board's approval, the project <br />will be heard by the Conservation Commission to ensure awareness and gather feedback. <br />
