<br />Richard Commission;
<br />Historical Conimission representative Richard DeSorgher presented the Veterans War Monument Phase If
<br />project to the Select Board for approval. The project is before the Community Preservation Committee Im-
<br />possible funding at the May 2025 Special Town Meeting.
<br />The goal is to complete the project, initially approved in 2018 with Phase I completed in 2023.
<br />flie Veterans War M011LIMent PhaSC 11 project would include the wars frorn, Operation Desert Shield to tile
<br />War in Afghanistan which includes; tl'ie Persian Gulf War, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation
<br />Freedom's, Sentinel, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation NeNv Dawn.
<br />'Fhe Historical Commission has made as pledge to honor, recognize, and pay tribute to all veterans firorn
<br />Mashpee, and there has been public interest in lionoring these wars. It is estiniated the monunient would
<br />contain 350 veteran nan-ies, with spacing to add additional names to ensure all veterans would be listed.
<br />The granite wall nionunient is proposed to resemble a, wave with a pile xiglass dry stone water Feature
<br />enhanced by landscape, native plantings, lighting, pavers, benches, and walkways. The added landscape
<br />with a proposed grass berm will reduce excess noise and bring as sense of calm and quiet to lionor the
<br />veterans. With the berm, the project is anticipated to cost $439,740. Approximately 1 ,00t O woUld be
<br />covered by the building and grounds budget ofthe DPW Isar this project. With Town,N/leeting approval,
<br />CPC funds would provide the remainder ofrequired ffinds an estiniated 425,645,

<br />dedicationthereafter, Once completed, the nionument, is envisioned as, a center piece of the (' 'orrin
