PLANNING BOARD
Town of Mashpee
individuals as well as the town. She a?.so said that the banks are stalling
foreclosing because of the suit, but after the title is clear, the banks aren't
going to wait.
Mrs. DeLory said that in 'the future your grandchildren will not be able to
build here. Where will be no drinking crater if we overbuild right now. firs.
Blakeman said that she doesn't think you can go to the other extreme either
that allows some way of giving the landowner some sort of relief.
Mr. Bourgeois said that the best thing would be to create an acre and a
half or tiro-acre lot sizes, ask to appropriate the money for a study, and get some
money to surrey the exact area for the Board of Health .for the water shed area.
?fro Lawrence pointed out that the Town Forest has 210 acres. P1r. Bourgeois said
that we would have to draw a, line around the paper subdivisions. 11r. Benway said
that all R-1 zoning would be known as R-8 for 80,000 square feet - anything else
7,rould be grandfathered - anything new would be 80,000. Mr. Blakeman said it
should be something that you feel you can live with until_ a study is made. He
also asked if the Executive Secretary can't find out if there any funds avi_lable.
Mrs. Green said that her comriittee has done a study on town-oirned land and
the town has acres and acres of land and she doesn 't know how Much they need for
a town watershed. They got the list when they ware looking for sites for the
fire and police and she is willing to turn it over to the Board of Health. Tyr.
Benway said that you won't n-ed availability of Crater if you go over one-half
acre. Mr. Green said that we started a Tatershed survey in 1962 and pretty well
completed it. Ide had a grant in 1962 and it was dropped at that ti.rne because it
was considered a little advanced of our planning at that time.
Mrs. Green asked what acreage was cueing considered for the watershed and ?Ira
DeLory said that Moody's Fond and John's Pond had been discussed - there's three
or four feet of water - all spring water there. Ile further said that the titles
should be searched and mmership found out. 11•1rs. Green said that we have. town-
owned property, a don't invest money and buy any property it's time to take -the
town property, so take it. If it's not a good location for the watershed, pay
Town Counsel to search the - itle for the 210 acres.
Mr. . Benway said that, pending the moratorium, he would like to see Sri thin the
next two or three weeks a hearing held by the Planning Board e to go either the
moratorium route or the r)0 or 50,O00 square feet in R-1, and also go for a com-
panion article for 6)5,000.00 or $10,000.00 and try to go out and get matching
funds for a complete -study. Mr. Blakeman suggested all areas, not just R-T.
Mr. DeLory sai.d that R--2 is already cut, up industrial, commercial, etc. Mr.
Bourgeois said it w,,uldn't affect anybody, but it Mould affect soraeone buying
lots next door.
Mr. Benway said he's not sure he agrees with Mr. Bourgeois with industrial.
or commercial m 601000 is industrial. He further said that you have to check with
counsel. Near where R-1 occurs at 22,500, it is changed to 60,000 or 80,r)00. He 's
not sure he agrees with all commercial or what - but he would like, to see some' af-
finilation that there will be a bea,ri ng and get the thing going. I1r. 'r3aurgeois said
i that for the advertisement he has to come up with something definitive.
Mr. Blakeman asked if you can stick condominiums or nursing horses into
 90
