Veronica Warden abstained.

NEW BUSINESS
 Report from the RFP Sub-Committee for the Human Services Study
Ruth Elias reported that the RFP sub-committee (Jim Long, Janice Walford and Ruth Elias) met
on 6/04/12. The question was raised by the committee as to how to go about finding a company
to conduct a human services study. Jim Long stated that the Mass. Municipal Association has
records of other towns that have done similar surveys - Natick, Newton and Nantucket have all
done human services studies. John Cahalane stated that the Mass. Municipal Association would
be helpful in providing the proper wording for the RFP. Mr. Cahalane added that the main
purpose of the study probably would be to identify the needs that are being taken care of by the
Town, as well as the needs that are not being met.

Jim Long made the following suggestions:
1) In the Needs Assessment document, under Budget, the first sentence should read “ Is the
overall budget for contracts adequate”.

2) For inclusion in the Study report, regarding the Human Services Coordinator’s monthly report
to the Committee: what would constitute a valuable report to this committee – what are the
elements that are important for the Human Services Committee to know on a monthly basis, and
what should be the format for the report, i.e., inclusion of statistics for example.

1
