MINUTES February 18, 1993 5 BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> Recycling Promotion Bags - Board members agreed to purchase <br /> 1000 bags. <br /> i <br /> i <br /> ****NEW BUSINESS***** <br /> Recycling Center Proposals <br /> Discussion took place regarding the recycling proposals <br /> submitted by private haulers i.e. commingling as opposed to <br /> separation and fee .schedules. Board members agreed proposals <br /> will no longer be accepted after. February 26, 1993 . <br /> :t - ' <br /> Peter Watts - Cape Cod Poultry Farm <br /> ` Mr. #Watts. - wasi not scheduled on the agenda however, <br /> stated heiis .present this evening to offer his services to <br /> screen the compost material at the landfill. <br /> Mr. Greelish responded, ' '"We did plan to screen a portion <br /> of`the compost 'in the Spring. " <br /> Mr. Watts explained, "I recently purchased a composting <br /> screen and plan to offer screening services to the surround- <br /> ing towns. " <br /> Mr. Greelish relayed, "There is probably one wind row <br /> which may be ready for screening in the Spring." "In my <br /> opinion we could justify an increase in the program providing <br /> the residents begin using it. " <br /> Discussion took place regarding the possibility of uti- <br /> lizing septage sludge as composting material. <br /> Mr. Greelish commented, "The regulations and testing <br /> procedures are quite complex. " "The town will probably be <br /> restricted to roadside restoration for that material as there <br /> are heavy metals in septage sludge. " <br /> Mr. Watts offered his services to recycle the newspaper <br /> and cardboard which would be shredded and returned to the <br /> compost pile. <br /> Mr. Greelish commented, "Only about 15 tons could be <br /> shredded and returned to the compost pile." <br /> Board members requested Mr. Watts to submit a proposal. <br />
