4
MINUTES August 19, 1993 3 BOARD OF HEALTH
i
"We may approach the Board at a later date to discuss alter-
native septic systems..",
APPOINTMENT: Michael Grotske - 24 Tide Run
Mr. Grotske was in attendance for this scheduled ap-
pointment.
Mr. Grotske informed Board members he is present tonight
for preliminary discussion on a proposed dwelling at 24 Tide
Run. " "The owner is proposing a two bedroom house. " "State
and local variances are necessitated." "There is an isolated
wetland 85' from the proposed leaching facility and the leach
pit would be placed within 5' of the property line. " "All
abutting lots are serviced by town water. "
Mr. Greelish informed Mr. Grotske of the Board's policy
regarding a wetlands variance.
Mr. Grotske stated, "The Conservation Commission Agent
has not verified whether or not the wetland area is a vernal
pool as its source is strictly road runoff."
Mr. Doherty recommended this Board await the Conserva-
tions Commission's. verification of the edge of the wetland
area. "
Mr. Grotske did comment on the possibility of an ease-
ment to the center of the road for placement of the leaching
facility thereby, creating the required distance between the
leaching facility and the edge of wetlands. "
Mr. Greelish informed Mr. Grotske, "That would require
Planning Board approval ."
Mr. Doherty recommended continuing this variance request
pending consultation with the Planning Board as to placement
of the leaching facility within the layout of the road, the
Conservation Commission's determination as to whether the
wetlands area could be considered a vernal pool and verifica-
tion of the edge of the wetland area."
. Board members agreed.
APPOINTMENT: Hank Suominen - Wastewater Treatment Facility
Mr. Hank Suominen and Mr. John Bersani were in atten-
dance for this scheduled appointment.
I
Mr. Greelish relayed, "This is potentially an alterna-
tive to a septage pretreatment plant. " "They are proposing
an alternative that is substantially more cost effective. "
