MINUTES September 2 , 1993 6 BOARD OF HEALTH
Lapio Barn - South Sandwich Road
Attorney Paul Dillon, representing the Lapio Estate, was
in attendance.
Attorney Dillon stated, "The Lapio's own a barn in
Maine. " "This spring Mr. Lapio passed away and now Ms. Lapio
would like to return to her home located on South Sandwich
Road. " "Currently, Ms. Lapio stables 25 to 30 Arabian
Horses. " "Ms. Lapio would like to return within the next six
weeks and bring four of her show Arabian's with her. " "Ms.
Lapio raises and breeds the Arabians as a hobby only. " "It
is my understanding the current stable can hold 13 horses. "
"Manure will be removed on a daily basis. "
Mr. Doherty questioned Attorney Dillon as to whether
there are any zoning issues that need to be resolved. "
Attorney Dillon presented building permits for various
sections of the barn area.
Mr. Doherty stated, "I would recommend the Board request
a determination from the Building Inspector as to whether the
barn is in compliance with zoning. "
Mr. Greelish agreed.
Attorney Dillon stated, "I would like to maximize the
number of horses Ms. Lapio can bring and still meet
everyone's approval. "
Mr. McQuaid stated, "The only potential concern would be
contamination of the on-site or abutting wells. "
Mr. Greelish commented, "There is no capacity noted for
this facility which is an issue that must be determined. "
Mr. McQuaid stated, "In 1986 the tenant was permitted 20
stalls and 26 horses. "
It was agreed Attorney Dillon, Mr. McQuaid and the
Animal Control Officer will inspect the facility.
Being no further business Mr. Greelish motioned to adjourn
this meeting at 8: 35 p.m. , Mr. Doherty seconded.
Respectfully submitted,
Veronica Warden, Adm. Sec.
i
i
