MINUTES September 2 , 1993 6 BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> Lapio Barn - South Sandwich Road <br /> Attorney Paul Dillon, representing the Lapio Estate, was <br /> in attendance. <br /> Attorney Dillon stated, "The Lapio's own a barn in <br /> Maine. " "This spring Mr. Lapio passed away and now Ms. Lapio <br /> would like to return to her home located on South Sandwich <br /> Road. " "Currently, Ms. Lapio stables 25 to 30 Arabian <br /> Horses. " "Ms. Lapio would like to return within the next six <br /> weeks and bring four of her show Arabian's with her. " "Ms. <br /> Lapio raises and breeds the Arabians as a hobby only. " "It <br /> is my understanding the current stable can hold 13 horses. " <br /> "Manure will be removed on a daily basis. " <br /> Mr. Doherty questioned Attorney Dillon as to whether <br /> there are any zoning issues that need to be resolved. " <br /> Attorney Dillon presented building permits for various <br /> sections of the barn area. <br /> Mr. Doherty stated, "I would recommend the Board request <br /> a determination from the Building Inspector as to whether the <br /> barn is in compliance with zoning. " <br /> Mr. Greelish agreed. <br /> Attorney Dillon stated, "I would like to maximize the <br /> number of horses Ms. Lapio can bring and still meet <br /> everyone's approval. " <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated, "The only potential concern would be <br /> contamination of the on-site or abutting wells. " <br /> Mr. Greelish commented, "There is no capacity noted for <br /> this facility which is an issue that must be determined. " <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated, "In 1986 the tenant was permitted 20 <br /> stalls and 26 horses. " <br /> It was agreed Attorney Dillon, Mr. McQuaid and the <br /> Animal Control Officer will inspect the facility. <br /> Being no further business Mr. Greelish motioned to adjourn <br /> this meeting at 8: 35 p.m. , Mr. Doherty seconded. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Veronica Warden, Adm.
