Emergency failure certification 15 Uncatena Road - Mr. McQuaid relayed, <br /> "Excessive pumping is required as the cesspool is overflowing,." "The entire house rn ust <br /> be replumbed to maintain distance from the wetlands." <br /> Board members forwarded their signatures to the "Emergency Repair <br /> Certification" form. <br /> *****OLD BUSINESS'S**** <br /> A. Variance request - 41 Pond Circle <br /> Mr. McQuaid relayed, "After considerable discussion at last week's meeting it was <br /> continued as Board members in attendance were not of the same opinion." <br /> Mr. Doherty commented, "I was of the opinion that since the applicant is near <br /> surface waters and since the applicant is seeking a variance from the well and the purpose <br /> of a variance is to grant relief in a situation where there are no alternatives I don't feel that <br /> applicant has expended every alternative." "He's not offering to put in any type of <br /> nitrogen reducing or composting toilet system, those are definitely alternatives that would <br /> help reduce the impact of the requested variance to the off-site weil." "Ever.. thoug,t 17e <br /> has the required distance to the weltands it would certainly help to jrritigate any impact: HIS <br /> septic system would have on the wells." "Here again I think I am probably looting to see <br /> what we as a Board, how strong our commitment is to protecting, groundwater, drinking <br /> water and surface water." <br /> Mr. Ball commented, "The variance request is not below the State 100' <br /> requirement and therefore rnec;ts Title V regulations." <br /> Mr. McQuaid stated, "This is a pre-approved subdivision." "Water flOWS to1W.TAS <br /> the pond and will not affect the abutting well." <br /> Mr. Crain questioned, "Is this one of the problem areas in town' <br /> Mr. Doherty commented, "In my opinion all. areas in town could be. potential <br /> problem areas." "The technology is now available and approved by the State to help, <br /> alleviate these distance problems, the distance problems being what we felt was the safe <br /> criteria for the installation of a system." <br /> i <br />
