i
I
MINUTES October 8, 1998 b BOARD OF HEALTH
Mr. McQuaid commented, "The money is in there." "It's $1,200.00 per day, for
every Tuesday through March." "There would need to be a change order to the contract_"
"During the winter hour schedule last year we only received two complaints." "People are
aware of the hours, it's not worth the extra$25,000.00."
Mr. Ball stated, "I would recommend we review the transfer station contract and
put it out to bid next year." 'We can include Tuesdays in the contract." "Right now I feel
we should leave the contract the way it is."
Mr. Cram stated, "If it does come down to it's going to be open on Tuesdays I
want an accurate account of participants who utilize the facilities on that given day." "We
then have something to report to the townspeople."
Board members reviewed the transfer station schedule and agreed to leave the
contract as is.
Request for Town Compost - Crowell Construction
Mr. McQuaid relayed, "Part of D.E.P.'s strict requirements to loam the top of the
landfill after it's been lined, sanded, etc. you have to put in loam at a certain organic
ratio." "Mr. Crowell purchased thousands of yards of screened loam and it turns out
Athena Rodbell is not accepting it because it doesn't have the 4 to 1 ratio it needs the 3 to
1 ratio of organics to loam." "Our composting material there is highly organic so Mr.
Crowell has offered to supply us with at least a 1000 cubic yards of screened loam in
exchange for him using some or all of our composting material to mix in with his screened
loam to bring up the organic level." `He is going to use up to 1300 yards of our compost
that we would have had to screen and pay for."
Mr. Ball motioned to accept Crowell Construction's request to use approximately
1300 yards of town compost in exchange for 1000 yards of screened loam, Mr. Cram
seconded.
Assistant Health Agent's Position
Mr. McQuaid stated, "Personnel has now posted in-house the opening for the
Assistant Health Agent."
Acknowledged.
