r
MINUTES August 24, 2000 7 BOARD OF HEALTH
C. Agent's comments on Nini et Canonchet lot buildabili if available
Mr. McQuaid submitted a memorandum with his comments, recommendations
and conditions.
Mr. McQuaid stated, "I see the only way you could do it is with the conditions
that I've proposed. But, that's only based on your feeling that Mr. Maraia's
health situation is such a hardship that his grandchildren crammed into the
existing small, three-bedroom house would make his situation worse. That
therefore, you are granting a variance to the Title V requirement of one bedroom
per 10,000 square feet for a new three bedroom house on the condition that the
old house be abandoned upon the passing of Mr. Maraia. Would granting a
variance lessen the hardship? That is the key question." "My idea, to put it
bluntly is, because of this gentleman's health, his hardship, you can grant him
a variance. Let him put a three bedroom house up here, which he could have
done if he had the plans submitted prior to the end of December, with a denite
on the condition that when Mr. Maraia passes away, this house be demolished
and these two properties remain vacant forever."
Mr. McQuaid further noted that any variance to allow the applicant to put a
septic system on the lot across the street or to put more bedrooms than would
be allowed of a property in the Zone II area would require DEP concurrence.
Board members decided to continue this item until the full board is present.
Being no further business, Mr. Ball motioned to adjourn this meeting at 8:19 p.m., Mr.
Santos seconded, all agreed.
L
Re ectfu y submitted,
Lucy B. Burton, Administrative Secretary
I
