Evan Lehrer, Town Planner was also in attendance.
After engagement with the area property owners off-site interventions are proposed to address most of the
concerns of the neighborhood. This would include safety improvements along Old Barnstable Road before
and after the 90-degree curve at the intersection of the Country Club such as reflective chevron markings,
the installation of radar speed feedback signs and the installation or replacement of curve warning signs.
Additionally,a sidewalk extension, and in the golf cart/pedestrian crossing areas, the installation of new
signage and the consideration for rapid flashing beacons are proposed over three crossings in the project
area.
The discussions opened to solicit comment.
Erika Adams of the Quashnet Valley Condominiums stated the intersection of Old Barnstable Road and
151 is horrible, not to mention the Rotary deemed one of the worst in the country. Ms. Adams stated there
is no need for more density in this area. Although there is a need for subsidized housing or affordable
housing,Ms. Adams said she does not want to pay for this.
Quashnet resident David Mills indicated that many residents are in attendance to hear the contents of the
study. Mr. Mills asked if the study would be available online. In response it was noted the Transportation
Impact Assessment would be available on the Town's website, the Police Departments webpage on the
community engagement link and hard copies would be made available for public review through the Office
of the Town Manager/Select Board.
