Article 36. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of $2,000 to conduct the mandated State Census pursuant to Chapter 9, Sections 7 and 7A of the Massachusetts General Laws So voted p Article 37. To see if the TJWn will vote to authorize and direct the Board of Selectmen to file a Home Rule Petition with the General Court to change the offices of Town Treasurer and Town M Collector frexn elected offices to appointed office by the Board of Selectmen, in substantially the same form as a text dated March 9, 1984 filed with the office of the Town Clerk,, ' k. An act authorizing the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Mashpee to appoint a Town Treasurer and Town Tax Collector. Section 1. Not withstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Mashpee is 'hereby authorized to appoint a Town Treasurer and Tax Collector, for a term of one, two or three years. Section 2. The compensation to be paid to the appointed Town Treasurer and Tax Collector, shall be such as the Board of Selectmen may determine annually, subject to appropriation therefor. Section 3. The term of office of the appointed Town Treasurer and Tax Collector shall be for one, two, or three years. The term of office of such appointee will commence on July 1, of the year wherein the present elected holders of these offices complete their current terms or sooner in the event there is a vacancy in any of -the aforesaid offices prior to the completion of the current term. Section 4. The persons appointed to the office of Town Treasurer and Tax Collector, and shall hold no elective town office, but may be appointed by the Board of Selectmen to any other town office or position consistent with the office they hold.
