117 Timberlane Drive, Town of Mashpee, DPW Proposed stormwater management
systems and parking lot. Representative: Self

Representative: DPW, Catherine Laurent

The project site is located at Santuit Ponds Town Landing, situated off Timberlane Drive.
Existing features include a partially paved gravel driveway leading to a compacted gravel
parking area, a launch area, and a small boat ramp. Currently, drainage exists only along
Timberlane Drive, with no on-site drainage.
The town has successfully secured two MVP grants, enabling the development of plans
for stormwater infrastructure and community use of the facility. Several workshops were
held with residents to gather feedback and determine the best approach for the property.
The primary focus is shifting vehicular traffic and parking away from the pond and up to
Timberlane Drive. The proposal includes a separate parking area with eight spots: four
for boats with trailers and four for vehicles. For the pond area, a new pre-cast concrete
ramp will be constructed, providing a launch area for motorized vessels and a separate
seasonal dock for non-motorized watercraft (such as canoes and kayaks) access and for
fishing. The Department of Natural Resources have agreed to take on the responsibility of
removing and installing the dock.
The parking area will feature porous pavement, while the road access and access area
itself will be conventionally paved with stormwater improvements. Additional amenities
include a picnic/viewing area with permeable pavers, picnic tables, benches, a seating
wall, and a pathway.
A vegetation plan includes rain gardens starting at the upper parking area and extending
to a freshwater wetland near the boat ramp. Additionally, a pollinator garden is proposed
in the picnic area. Throughout the property, informational signage will explain the
purpose of these different features.
The project aims to maximize property use, enhance its care, and address stormwater
issues impacting the water quality in Santuit Pond.

COMMISSIONERS COMMENTS

The following is a summary of the questions asked, responses, and additional commentary.

Climate Resilient Trail:
o Ms. Laurent suggests that a climate-resilient trail is more like an educational trail
rather than focusing on the construction of the trail itself.
Stormwater Runoff Projections based on:
18
