2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 21, 2005 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Holiday Schedule: <br /> The Selectmen were requested to reconsider the Town Manager's previous <br /> recommendation to close all municipal buildings with the exception of <br /> public safety operations on Friday,November 25, 2005. The clay after <br /> Thanksgiving is a recognized holiday with all of the unions with the <br /> exception of the Administrators' Unit. It was noted the Fire Unit through <br /> contract negotiations has funds within budget for this purpose. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the request and the use of public funds <br /> for a holiday not negotiated. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to not reconsider the request to <br /> close all municipal buildings. Town Hall is to remain open on Friday, <br /> November 25,2005. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: 4-1. Motion carries. <br /> Selectman Cahalane in opposition. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Certification and Confirmation of Promotion Process—Town Accountant: <br /> The Board of Selectmen reviewed the Hiring Certification for Dawn <br /> Thayer to serve as Town Accountant. Ms. Thayer has been the Acting <br /> Town Accountant since December 2004. Prior to this position, she served <br /> as Assistant Town Accountant under the direction of Diane <br /> Rommehneyer. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to certify and confirm the <br /> appointment of Dawn Thayer as Town Accountant. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cook. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
