3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 10, 2004 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Proclamation—Citizen of the Year—Kevin Shackett: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to proclaim May 18, 2004 as Kevin <br /> Shackett Day, and encourage all the residents of Mashpee to join in <br /> the celebration honoring this devoted individual. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Proclamation—Senior Center: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to proclaim May 9 through May <br /> 15, 2004 as Senior Center Week in the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Recommendation for Bid Acce tance—Transf r Station: <br /> Catherine Laurent, Assistant Director of Public Works was present to <br /> recommend the Board award the Transfer Station Bid for fiscal year 2005 <br /> to WeCare Transportation, LLC. Three references were reviewed and <br /> favorable responses were obtained in terms of their professionalism, <br /> responsiveness and reliability in the transfer station business. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to accept the bid of WeCare <br /> Transportation, LLC for the operation of the Mashpee Transfer <br /> Station for FY05 as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to Option 1 of the contract proposal in <br /> the amount of$48,100. The DPW has recommended the Board decline <br /> Option 1 at this time. Option 1 would allow the Transfer Station to be <br /> opened on Tuesdays from April 1st through October 31". The option is not <br /> contained in the base bid of$346,966 for year one although Option 1 is <br /> contained in the level funded budget for the operation of the Transfer <br /> Station. <br />
