9 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> May 24, 2004 <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Acc tance of Rgg na ion--Watmya s Commission: <br /> Herbert Silver, Waterways Commission submitted his resignation to the <br /> Selectmen dated April 29, 2004. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to accept with regret,the <br /> resignation of Herbert Silver from the Waterways Commission. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> The Town Administrator was requested to remit a letter of appreciation to <br /> Mr. Silver for his dedication to the Town of Mashpee. <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> CoWQral Tvminski—NE Regional Homeland Sggw:qy Center Feasibility <br /> Study Presentation: <br /> Corporal Tyminski gave a presentation to the Selectmen regarding the <br /> Massachusetts Military Reservation(MMR), an established joint military <br /> training base as an ideal Northeast Regional Center for Homeland Defense <br /> and Homeland Security Training. <br /> An informational brochure relative to the need for a regional center and <br /> the funding initiative relative to the feasibility study for the center at the <br /> MMR were distributed to the Selectmen during the informational session. <br /> The two phase approach considers continued training plus joint <br /> military/civilian exercises, and to build a joint operations urban training <br /> center that would include an indoor small arms training facility. (enclosed) <br />
