6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 30, 2004 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> WBNERR: Liaison to Marsh Pro'ectlRe uest for Gate: <br /> Selectman John Cahalan indicated that he is willing to serve as liaison to <br /> the South Cape Beach Salt Marsh Restoration project. <br /> Brendan Annett of the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve <br /> (WBNERR)was present to request the Selectmen's approval to install a <br /> gate on land partially owned by the Town of Mashpee. The gate would <br /> cross Great Hay Road just to the north of William Mingo Road. <br /> The proposed gate would restrict unauthorized car/truck access while <br /> enabling emergency and management vehicle access to conservation land <br /> owned by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. <br /> Earlier discussions relative to signage and marked parking areas have been <br /> addressed. It was agreed that signage would be in place prior to the <br /> installation of the steel gate that would include a Knox Box for emergency <br /> access. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to approve the request of <br /> WBNERR to install a gate for proposed access management of the <br /> North Quashnet Woodlands parcel as referenced. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Ex-Officio Discussion: <br /> The Board of Selectmen met with members of the Planning Board to <br /> discuss their recent vote to appoint Myrna Nuey as an Associate Member <br /> of the Planning Board. <br /> The Town Charter requires Ms. Nuey to step down from her position on <br /> the Affirmative Action Committee to be eligible to serve on the Planning <br /> Board. <br /> Ms.Nuey responded to the position appointment in a memorandum dated <br /> August 17, 2004, and requested to be recognized as an ex officio member <br /> of the Affirmative Action Committee. <br />
