2
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
July 22, 2002
COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE:
jCorreMppdence from Norton Board of Selectmen—ChaRter 40B:
The Board of Selectmen was in receipt of communication from the Norton
Board of Selectmen dated July 12, 2002 relative to suggested revisions to
the statute of the Chapter 40 B process.
There has been a recent surge of comprehensive permits under the 40B
statute that allow a developer of residential housing to bypass nearly all
local regulations, including zoning by-laws and subdivision regulations in
order to construct development in which a percentage of homes are
devoted to households of low or moderate income.
It is the position of the Norton Board of Selectmen, and that of other
communities to join together to appeal legislators to enact workable
revisions to the statute to ease the disproportionate burdens currently
imposed. Responses to the proposal in addition to support are requested
no later than September 6, 2002.
The Selectmen agreed to refer the matter to the Board of Appeals and
Zoning Board of Appeals for additional continent.
Draft#I —October 7, 2002 Town Meeting Warrant:
Draft#I of the October Town Meeting Warrant was presented to the
Selectmen for initial review. The Town Planner and representatives of the
Zoning Board of Appeals will be invited to attend the next scheduled
Selectmen's Meeting for discussion of warrant articles applicable to their
department.
