3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 22, 2002 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Ado tion of Resolution by Massachusetts Producer Take Back Cam ai n: <br /> The Massachusetts Producer Take Back Campaign is an effort to shift <br /> responsibility for the proper disposal of electronics and household <br /> hazardous products from municipalities to the manufacturers. <br /> The resolution proposed by the Producer Take Back Campaign asks the <br /> legislature to adopt a bill requiring that manufacturers establish collection <br /> and disposal programs for electronics and household hazardous products. <br /> Catherine Laurent, Assistant Director of Public Works recommended the <br /> Selectmen support the resolution. It was noted that in the first six months <br /> of 2002,the direct cost to the Town of Mashpee for disposal was <br /> approximately$8,700. Residents contributed an estimated $3,000 through <br /> the separate Transfer Station fee. <br /> The proposed House Bill No. 4716 relative to the Take Back was taken <br /> under advisement at this time. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Acceptance of Resignation—.LibLaU Building Committee—Ernest Cole: <br /> Correspondence was received from Ernest J. Cole, Jr. dated July 12, 2002 <br /> requesting the Selectmen approve his resignation from the Library <br /> Expansion Committee. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to accept the resignation of <br /> Ernest J. Cole,Jr. from the Library Expansion Committee with <br /> regret. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> i <br />
