6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 22, 2002 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Planning Department—Joint Appointment: <br /> The Planning Board met in joint convention with members of the Board of <br /> Selectmen for the purpose of filling the present vacancy on the Planning <br /> Board. In attendance were Planning Board members Beverly Kane, <br /> Dennis Balzarini and Richard Terry. Eric Smith, the Assistant Town <br /> Planner was also present. <br /> Ms. Kane called the Planning Board meeting to order. Don Myers, <br /> Associate member of the Planning Board since January 2002 was <br /> recommended for appointment. The Planning Board voted unanimously <br /> to appoint Don Myers to fill the vacant position. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to appoint Don Myers as a member <br /> of the Planning Board as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. <br /> Roll Call Vote: Selectman Uveille,yes Selectman Marsters,yes <br /> Selectman Green,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes <br /> Ms. Kane,yes Mr. Balzarini,yes <br /> Mr. Terry,yes Opposed, none <br /> Planning Board Hazard Mitigation Grant Request: <br /> Eric Smith, Planning Department was present to recommend the <br /> Selectmen support the Hazard Mitigation Grant application submission. <br /> The grant program entitled "Project Impact Cape Cod", is funded by the <br /> Federal Emergency Management Agency and coordinated by Barnstable <br /> County. <br /> I <br /> One eligible project is dune restoration designed to enhance flood <br /> protection. The grant program requires a 25%non-federal match, which <br /> can be in-kind labor and/or use of AmeriCorp staff. The deadline for the <br /> grant submission is July 31, 2002. <br />
