12
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
October 21, 2002
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Department of Public Works: (continued)
Proppsed Realignment--Job's Fishing-Road/Police/Fire Complex.
Correspondence was received from the Town Administrator dated October
17, 2002 relative to the proposed realignment of Job's Fishing Road and
the Police and Fire complex. Several options considered by the
subcommittee were reflected in the memorandum addressed to all
departments.
An in-depth discussion followed with respect to the realignment proposal
and the options provided for future expansion needs. Several scenarios
were considered. A group of residents from Snead Drive and Nelson
Circle were present to voice concern to the proposed Hicks Drive
extension. The senior center, if moved from the present site location
would create more of a buffer for the area residents.
The Selectmen agreed to defer approval and requested the senior center be
moved further east to the original site location to include the realignment
of the senior parking facility for additional review and consideration. The
matter will appear as a future agenda topic of discussion.
COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE:
Finance Committee—Recommendation for Vehicle Replacement Polio
Recommendation for the development of a Town-wide Vehicle
Replacement'Program was unanimously voted upon by members of the
Finance Committee for the Selectmen's approval. Correspondence was
received from the Finance Committee dated September 27, 2002 with
respect to this regard.
The Selectmen agreed to address the issue under the direction of the
Capital Improvement Committee. It was noted that the Town has a seven
year vehicle replacement program. Recommendations would be
incorporated into the present program.
The Board of Selectmen will appoint a designee to serve on the CIP
Committee.
