2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 4, 2002 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Commonwealth of Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting <br /> Board/Department of Telecommunications and Ener y: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts <br /> Energy Facilities Siting Board and Department of Telecommunications <br /> and Energy dated October 23, 2002 relative to Notice of <br /> Adjudication/Notice of Public Comment Hearing. <br /> Notice was given that the Cape Wind Associates, LLC have filed jointly <br /> with the Energy Facilities Siting Board, a petition for approval to construct <br /> two new 115kV electrical transmission lines, approximately 17 miles in <br /> length, to run under Nantucket Sound and through the Towns of Yarmouth <br /> and Barnstable. <br /> The alternative route for the proposed transmission lines would be <br /> approximately 24 miles long. The route would travel 10 miles under <br /> Nantucket Sound, with a landfall at the town-owned boat ramp at the end <br /> of Mashpee Neck Road. The route is proposed to continue underground <br /> approximately 1.9 miles in Mashpee. The overhead route is <br /> approximately 12.3 miles long and would also travel through the Town.of <br /> Mashpee to its destination. <br /> Public Comment on the hearing is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, <br /> November 13, 2002 at Cape Cod Community College. <br /> The Selectmen directed the Town Administrator follow up on this matter <br /> to include the Selectmen's previous letter in opposition to the planned <br /> Cape Wind proposal, and request notification if the wind facility is, <br /> intended to be placed on Town-owned land. <br /> i <br /> I <br />
