2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 2, 2002 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearing—Tax Classif cation: <br /> Selectman Marsters and Selectman Cahalane stepped down for the above <br /> referenced Hearing. <br /> Selectman Taylor opened the Public Hearing to hear comments on the <br /> allocation of the tax levy by classification of property. The purpose of <br /> said Hearing is to solicit public comments on whether each classification <br /> of property should have a different rate or whether the rate should be the <br /> same for all classifications. <br /> Members of the Mashpee Water District Commissioners were present <br /> jointly with the Board of Selectmen to review the options related to the <br /> manner in which the Town is taxed. David Bailey, Director of Assessing <br /> was present with the Board of Assessor's for discussion purposes. <br /> I <br /> The four options are as follows; a Split Tax Rate, a Small Business <br /> Exemption, an Open Space Discount and a Residential Exemption. <br /> Being no comment,the Board motioned to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Selectman Marsters, Selectman Cahalan absent. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to adopt a residential exemption <br /> of one(1), not allow an open space discount,not allow a small business <br /> exemption and not allow a residential exemption. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Selectman Marsters, Selectman Cahalan absent. <br /> The Mashpee Water District Commissioners-voted unanimously to adopt <br /> the above referenced action. <br />
