9 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 16, 2002 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Request of VFW--Extended Hours on New Years' Eve: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Mashpee VFW dated December <br /> 11, 2002 requesting extension of their license on December 31, 2002 to <br /> 1:00 a.m. for a New Year's Eve party for members and their guests. <br /> Due to lace of voting quorum,the matter was taken under advisement. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Request to Advertise—Assistant Treasurer/Tax Collector: <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalan to place the above topic on the <br /> Selectmen's agenda. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalan to authorize the advertisement <br /> of Assistant Treasurer/Tax Collector at Level 1 upon agreement with <br /> the applicable collective bargaining union. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 3-0. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Request to Increase Fees—Transfer Station: <br /> Catherine Laurent, Assistant Director of Public Works was present to <br /> discuss a change of fee for propane tanks and residential permit fees. <br /> The proposal was outlined in a memorandum relative to the Transfer <br /> Station dated December 10, 2002. <br /> Ms. Laurent recommended that a tiered fee be imposed for the disposal of <br /> propane tanks since the disposal of larger tanks is much greater. An <br /> increase in residential permit fees would generate an additional$90,000 <br /> and fall in comparison with fees of surrounding towns. The fee is <br /> currently $55.00. Ms. Laurent has proposed an increase to $75,00, a cost <br /> of$1.44 per week for household permits which are valid for one year. <br />
