Murphy noted that the Wage Account encompasses
a variety of things ; sick leave , vacation , overtime , replacement for
officers , overtime for work with the harbormasters , etc . He noted
that this would have a grave impact on the police department. . He
also expressed his belief that the town should have the opportunity
to vote on this in the 21 override . The Chairman of the Finance
Committee expressed the Committees ' attempt to keep the override
figure low, it was a time of tight budgets and it was a tough
decision . The Executive Secretary also appealed that the Fire
wages were necessary or the fire fighting capability and rescue
would be greatly impaired . There would not be a crew on if a second
call should come in . The Finance Committee voted and agreed to
recommend and seek the following at the Town Meeting :
Fire Wages $113 , 480 $91 , 372 only with override
Police Wages 130 , 550 70 , 820 only with override
Tom Fudala , Town Planner , joined the meeting to discuss his
Articles on the warrant .
i $15 , 000 for a Traffic Study of Route 151 . This. would
be done jointly with the town of Falmouth . This would
be an attempt to solve some of the traffic problems .
• $18 , 433 for the River Study . This would be for the
completion of a study of the Mashpee and Santuit Rivers
to prevent pollution .
• $20, 000 for the Noisy Hole Road project . This would involve
the relocation of the intersection near Augat and re—route
Sampsons Mill Road . This $20 , 000 is for the engineering
costs only .
