A copy will be disseminated
to the full Board of Selectmen for review.
For disclosure, it was noted that the Board of Selectmen is in support of a
traditional tribal recognition environment. The Selectmen are not against
the Tribal Council's petition for recognition. It was suggested that the
MA Dispute Resolution be considered to assist in the determination of the
matter with respect to facilitation and negotiation. It was also suggested
that the relationship with the Tribal Council be re-opened to discuss issues
important to the community.
Discussion followed. It was agreed that two Selectmen representatives
previously approved by the Board meet with legislative officials in
Washington DC to further review this matter. Due to lack of quorum, the
vote of authorization to expend funds was tabled to the end of the meeting.
