Finance Committee Meeting
September 16 , 1987
Page 4 .
Carl next addressed the issue of increased participation
of Finance Committee members in town matters . To this end
he expressed his belief that it was important for a Committee
member to attend Selectmen meetings . A motion was made and
unanimously voted that one member , .on a rotating basis , attend
Selectmen meetings.: every week . The Secretary forwarded a
memorandum to the Board of Selectmen informing them of this
motion and the names of the individuals who would be attending
the meetings through December 28 , 1987 .
A motion was made by Bill that the Selectmen be requested
to have a member of the Board attend the Finance Committee meetings.
This motion was carried unanimously . The Secretary forwarded
a memorandum to the Board with this request and asking for
a reply stating the name of the Selectman to attend the
next three meetings .
Regarding the SeaMist back taxes , Anne Shaw the Treasurer/
Tax Collector is going to have a lien put on the property .
This will be made public and published . The next step will be
foreclosure .
Carol illustrated the form she is : using to keep a
running balance of accounts and unpaid bills to .help .
to keep track of the Department she has been assigned to monitor .
This is important because we will know what the Department
is talking . about when the new budgets come in for review.
Carol noted that the Department Secretaries should have all f "
the information . needed .
' Lou Misurella , informed the Finance Committe about some
of the information she had gained in her meeting at the Fire
Department . Lou pointed out that in a 56 day period , July 4
to August 22 , overtime averaged $512 . 20 per day . During this
same period there were 64 vacation days , 26 sick days ,
amd: 5. per.ona ' days_ taken . . The Secretary forwarded a r
memorandum stating the above information , and requesting the
Board of S.electmen ' s comments . This memorandum also requested
written clarification as to whether or not the acting Fire
Chief was dircted to maintain a full complement by shift ,
during the summer months .
The meeting adjourned at 9 : 30 p . m.
