Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> April 9, 2001 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Habitat for Humanity: <br /> Don Dickerson, Habitat for Humanity was present to request the <br /> Selectmen approve the Local Initiative Project (LIP) application for <br /> developing three affordable houses in the Town of Mashpee. Completed <br /> applications are mailed to the Department of Housing and Community <br /> Development. (DHCD) <br /> The project is being developed through a partnership by and between the <br /> Town of Mashpee and Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod. The Town <br /> contributes the land, offers technical and marketing assistance, grants a <br /> density increase and waives all permit fees. <br /> The Habitat acquire the land, oversees the family selection process in <br /> compliance with the guidelines of DHCD, and builds the homes with <br /> contributions of materials, money and labor from local businesses, <br /> churches, the community and the selected family. <br /> A public hearing is scheduled with the Board of Appeals to address the <br /> zoning issue. A Chapter 40B comprehensive permit will be requested to <br /> provide the proper zoning for the building of affordable housing. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to support the Habitat for <br /> Humanity of Cape Cod and their Local Initiative Project application <br /> as presented. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> The Town Administrator was authorized to draft a memorandum to the <br /> Zoning Board of Appeals relative to the Selectmen's support and <br /> endorsement of the (LIP) grant application. <br />
