3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 20, 2001 <br /> Y' <br /> J COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> I'• <br /> Town of Canton—Request for Selectmen Su ort: <br /> Correspondence was received from the Town of Canton dated <br /> July 23, 2001 requesting support for an investigation and determination by <br /> the Division of Local Mandates. The issue is regarding to Chapter 114 of <br /> the Acts of 2000, an Act approving teacher's recruitment, retention and <br /> retirement. <br /> It is believed that the Act did ;not include any local option provision, nor <br /> was any additional funding provided to support the resulting operational <br /> costs increases. Respectively, the Act's passage may violate the spirit and <br /> intent of the anti-mandate provisions of Proposition 2 1/2. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to draft a letter of support as <br /> referenced to request the Determination/Investigation of Chapter 114 <br /> of the Acts of 2000(Teachers Early Retirement). <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> NEW BUSINESS; <br /> Request for Ternporary Li <br /> AuoLLicense—Boch Center: <br /> T.K. Thompson, President and Executive Director of the Boch Center was <br /> present to request the Selectmen approve a Three-Day Liquor License on <br /> the dates of August 24`'and August 25`h 2001 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 <br /> p.m. and on August 26 h 2001 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the Annual <br /> New England Jana Festival under the concert tent at Mashpee Commons. <br /> Mr. Thompson was deemed the responsible party for the temporary <br /> license. Service of beer, wine and soft drinks shall be restricted to the <br /> fenced in area adjacent to the concert venue. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to approve the Three-Day <br /> Liquor license request of the Boch Center as referenced. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br />
