BOX 1108 <br /> 'RysTAB[e.... 5 MASHPEE, MA 02649 <br /> MASHPEE FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> Town Hall <br /> December 23, 1988 <br /> Present: Carole Dunivan, Tony Gallo, John Ferriday, Carl Heller <br /> William Towner <br /> Dr . DeMoura joined the Finance Committee to address the <br /> Article on the January 30th Special Town Meeting Warrant concerning <br /> the reconstruction of the roof at the Mashpee Middle School . DeMoura <br /> estimates the cost of the roof at $550 , 000 to $560 , 000 . He noted <br /> that the final proposal would be available in another week and <br /> the Executive Secretary and Finance Committee Chairman would be <br /> informed . Dr . DeMoura informed the Committee that these monies <br /> are 58% reimbursable from the Department- of Education , however <br /> it takes time to get the money from the State . If the Town Meeting <br /> approves the Article; work would begin June lst in an effort to <br /> complete the classroom roofs prior to the start of school . <br /> Murphy noted that there are 60 acres of land adjacent to the <br /> school building which may be purchased . This land would not be <br /> set aside for a new town hall. . There have been other sites <br /> proposed for a new town hall , i . e . , the area around the rotary , <br /> area overlooking Mashpee pond , and the site of the old Attaquin <br /> Hotel . Murphy informed the Finance Committee that a consultant <br /> as working on sites for the new town hall and there will be <br /> something at the Annual Town Meeting asking voters to make some <br /> decisions regarding sites . <br /> Murphy informed the Finance Committee that he may be looking <br /> for a $5 , 000 Transfer from the Reserve Fund to handle Medicare . <br /> There is a $10 , 000 balance in the account now and it is expected <br /> additonal funds may be necessary before June 30th due to the <br /> number of new employees . An Article has been prepared for the <br /> Special in May , but if additional money is required before this <br /> Special a Transfer may be required . He noted that this did not <br /> require a decision at this point , however the Finance Committee <br /> should be informed that it may come to pass . <br />
