Several <br /> departments have requested to meet with the Committee to discuss <br /> the Finance Committee recommendation for their FY90 budgets . <br /> Lincoln DeMoura , Superintendent of Schools and members <br /> of the School Committee joined the meeting . Carl noted that at <br /> town meeting Article #4 for the $492 , 270 override will preceed <br /> the omnibus and if it is passed then - proceed to the omnibus budget . <br /> The $301 , 000 to keep the current level. of educational staffing <br /> is in the budget subject to a 22 override . If either of these <br /> items should fail , Chairman }feller noted that the finance Committee <br /> will have to slash all budgets to come up with some of the money, <br /> including the school budget . There will be a reconsideration of <br /> the entire omnibus if the override fails . Finance Committee members <br /> stressed the need for all departments to focus on getting the <br /> money for the school . The Superintendent stated that 36 . 5% of <br /> the total town budget is for schools and this figure :is low <br /> compared to all tire surrounding towns . He expressed his concern <br /> if the override should tail , and the subsequent future cuts it <br /> would entail and the loss of State money . The Superintendent <br /> ; is trying to get information out to the parents and to the press <br /> to inform them about the override and how serious the situation is . <br /> Finance Committee expressed that they are partial to the schools <br /> and will inform all the departments as they come in that their <br /> budget is solely dependent on the passing of the school override <br /> and stress the need to get out and vote . <br /> Lincoln also addressed Article #33 on the Annual Town fleeting <br /> Warrant . This Article seeks town vote to appropriate and <br /> transfer from the Stabilization Fund $10 , 450 to the School Data <br /> Processing Account for the purpose of purchasing equipment to en- <br /> able the School to access and utilize the town ' s computer system.. <br /> DeMoura stressed that the present equipment avail able is not <br /> cost effective and equipment is vital to effectively run the school <br /> department . This $10 , 450 is the estimate given by. the company that <br /> installed the town computer . Jim Vaccaro noted that it would be <br /> less costly to hard wire this computer and later the school will. <br />
