BOX 1108 g1.5�h'6ff J` MASFiPEE, MA 02649 ANCE COMMI TTEE FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES Town Mall April 12, 1989 Present : Edward Dolan , Carole Dunivan , John Ferriday , 'Pony Gallo , Carl Heller , William Towner and James Vaccaro The Finance Committee meeting convened at 7 p . m . Several departments have requested to meet with the Committee to discuss the Finance Committee recommendation for their FY90 budgets . Lincoln DeMoura , Superintendent of Schools and members of the School Committee joined the meeting . Carl noted that at town meeting Article #4 for the $492 , 270 override will preceed the omnibus and if it is passed then - proceed to the omnibus budget . The $301 , 000 to keep the current level. of educational staffing is in the budget subject to a 22 override . If either of these items should fail , Chairman }feller noted that the finance Committee will have to slash all budgets to come up with some of the money, including the school budget . There will be a reconsideration of the entire omnibus if the override fails . Finance Committee members stressed the need for all departments to focus on getting the money for the school . The Superintendent stated that 36 . 5% of the total town budget is for schools and this figure :is low compared to all tire surrounding towns . He expressed his concern if the override should tail , and the subsequent future cuts it would entail and the loss of State money . The Superintendent ; is trying to get information out to the parents and to the press to inform them about the override and how serious the situation is . Finance Committee expressed that they are partial to the schools and will inform all the departments as they come in that their budget is solely dependent on the passing of the school override and stress the need to get out and vote . Lincoln also addressed Article #33 on the Annual Town fleeting Warrant . This Article seeks town vote to appropriate and transfer from the Stabilization Fund $10 , 450 to the School Data Processing Account for the purpose of purchasing equipment to en- able the School to access and utilize the town ' s computer system.. DeMoura stressed that the present equipment avail able is not cost effective and equipment is vital to effectively run the school department . This $10 , 450 is the estimate given by. the company that installed the town computer . Jim Vaccaro noted that it would be less costly to hard wire this computer and later the school will.
