Finance Committee Minutes <br /> Page 2 . - May 7 , 1989 <br /> The Finance Committee addressed a Request For Transfer From <br /> The Reserve Fund . The Personnel Board requested $3 , 500 . 00 be <br /> transferred to their Expense Account . This amount was requested <br /> to fund annual employee physicals for police and fire department <br /> employees . The Personnel Board explained that this request <br /> was extraordinary and unforeseen in that Dr . Silva could not <br /> complete all the required employee physicals in the last fiscal <br /> year . Therefore , money for physicals had to be spent from this <br /> year ' s budget . The Board is now in the process of scheduling <br /> annual physicals for police and fire which are required . Dr . Silva ' <br /> can only do the physicals during the spring months and the highway <br /> physicals will be scheduled in the fall . The Personnel Board also <br /> noted the increase in- expenses of $1 , 790 for the tests for the four <br /> new firefighters . Toe Finance Committee voted and approved the <br /> Request by unanimous vote of all present . <br /> The Finance Committee discussed the articles that were to <br /> come up at the Town Meeting scheduled for Monday night . <br /> Article #35 - recommen&— <br /> Article #36 - recommend <br /> Article #37 -- recommend <br /> Article #38 - make a motion for a special committee to be established <br /> Article #39 - recommend <br /> Article #40 - recommend that this be put on hold until some questions <br /> are answered i . e . , What are DiMaggio ' s responsibilities <br /> in thi.5 contract? The Finance Committee would like to <br /> know more . Also the Finance Committee was concerned <br /> about extra charge loopholes the contractor might have . <br /> Article #41 - not recommended <br /> Article #42 - recommend <br /> Article #43 -- The Finance Committee will meet prior to Town Meeting <br /> to discuss the creation of a Maintenance Department . <br /> The Finance Committee feels that option #2 of the <br /> article is the way to go with this . -They recommend <br /> that the article be postponed until a -Special in the <br /> Fall . This postponement would allow the Finance <br /> Committee or a sub-committee thereof to investigate <br /> the proposal as well as various alternative methods <br /> to address the pressing need to maintain town buildings <br /> in an acceptable manner . <br /> Selectman Hanson has requested to meet with the Finance <br /> Committee prior to Town Meeting to talk about this <br /> article and Committee members have agreed . <br /> Article #44 - recommend <br /> Article #45 - Article #49 <br /> The Finance Committee recommends that there be another <br /> override and that each position go on individually <br /> in June . Separate articles will allow people to pick <br /> and choose . The Finance Committee agreed to make a <br /> recommendation that that each be an override by itself . <br /> Article #50 - recommend June ballot <br /> Article #51 - recommend June ballot <br /> Article #52 - recommend <br />
