i $ Board of Selectmen Minutes January 10, 2000 APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: John McElhinny Progress Report on Willowbend's Golf Expansion Plan- John McElhinney,Executive Vice President of the Willowbend Development Corporation was present to update the Board on the nine hole golf expansion proposal. Mr. McElhinney discussed the progress of the golf course to be primarily situated south of Quinaquissett Avenue and encompassing a portion of Sampsons Mill Road. An area of approximately sixty acres. As noted, the permit application was filed with the Planning Board in July of 1999. To date, four hearings have been held. Willowbend is scheduled to meet with the Planning Board and Town Counsel on Wednesday, January 1.9, 2000 to discuss the terms of the special permit and other pending issues. A representative of the Board of Selectmen was invited to attend the meeting. A hearing is scheduled with the Cape Cod Commission on Tuesday, January 25, 2000 to identify areas to be studied. It was noted that a significant environmental benefit of the project is the capacity of Willowbend to sewer the Cotuit Bay Condominium complex. There has been wide support from the neighborhood associations. Construction is expected to commence in the fall of the year 2000. Shellfish Warden's Training Course: . Perry Ellis, Harbor Master and Richard York, Shellfish Constable were present to request the Board authorize the transfer of$700 from the Waterways.Improvement Account to permit two Assistant Harbor Masters to attend the Shellfish Warden's Training Course. It was noted that the two officers have offered to attend the course on their own time. The expenditure of$700 will support the training initiative sponsored by the MMA/MIT Sea Grant Program and the Massachusetts Shellfish Officers Association.
