8 <br /> Ronrd of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> March 13, 2000 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Joe Weinstein Great Hay Development: (continued) <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to deny the request of <br /> Joseph Weinstein to build (4) bedroom homes in the Great Hay <br /> Development proposal. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Blythe. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Selectman Alarsters abstained. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Leisure Services—Grant Re nest: <br /> Gus Frederick,Director of Leisure Services was present to discuss <br /> his request for grant funding to establish an extended "wrap-around" day <br /> and extended year youth program. The Mashpee yearning Center would <br /> respond to the needs of the community to provide safe, secure and quality <br /> supervision and constructive activities for school aged children. <br /> The three-year grant of$500,000 is contingent upon the Town sustaining <br /> the project. .It was noted that the School Department is actually applying <br /> for the grant, and it working in conjunction with organizations such as the <br /> Boys and Girls Club and Tribal Council. <br /> The stipulation to sustain the program after the three-year grant was <br /> deemed a concern of the Board of Selectmen at this time. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Blythe to deny the request of the Leisure <br /> Service Department for grant funding for the Mashpee Learning <br /> Center as proposed. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Leveilie. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
