5
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
March 1372000
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Cape Cod Commission: (continued)
After a brief review of pending projects under the review of the Cape Cod
Commission, the Selectmen discussed their limited involvement in the
process and requested to be further informed of detailed project proposal
considerations under the CCC's jurisdiction.
The Selectmen requested that they become more involved in the review
process and that Town regulatory officials be allowed adequate input into
the process. Traffic issues were deemed a main concern of the Board as
is design development proposals. Maintaining the distinct character of
Mashpee as a unique Cape community was also a noted priority of the
Board of Selectmen.
Ms. Fenn agreed to remit a memorandum of understanding to the
Selectmen in an effort to open the gap of communication and to become
more specific about the CCC's activities. It was noted that Mr.
Whritenour is the official DRI liaison for the Town of Mashpee.
Mr. Virgilio indicated that he would update the Selectmen on the Cape
Cod Commission's activities on a periodic basis.
The CCC has also been conducting a build-out model of all Cape towns.
As per the State's executive order#4-18, communities should disclose
community development plans to be eligible for funding to assist with
transportation needs, open space, economic development and affordable
housing initiatives.
It was noted that the Local Comprehensive Plan is eligible for funding.
Grant money can also be used to implement an existing plan. The
discussion of build-out will be further reviewed with the Town Planner.
COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE:
Eagle Scout Award—Paul A. Trask:
The Selectmen unanimously agreed to approve and endorse a certification
to Paul A. Trask who will be the recipient of the prestigious Eagle Award
on Wednesday,March 22, 2000 at the Christ the King Parish Hall.
