Town of Mashpee <br /> Herring Fishery Regulations <br /> 1. GOVERNING LAWS - All fishing shall be conducted in accordance with the <br /> provisions of Chapter 130 of the General laws, as amended, and also in accordance <br /> with the regulations of the Town of Mashpee. <br /> 2. LIMIT—Twelve (12) fish per day per person over ten years of age is allowed <br /> without permit or charge. <br /> 3. OPEN PERIODS - No herring may be taken on Monday, Wednesday, or Sunday. <br /> Herring may only be taken from sun up until sun down. <br /> 4. COMMERCIAL FISHING - No commercial fish taking or taking for sale is allowed <br /> whatsoever. <br /> 5. METHOD No fish shall be taken by any means other than by dip net, angling <br /> (fishing), or by hand. Absolutely no snagging with hooks is allowed. <br /> 6. DESIGNATED CATCHING AREA— Herring may only be taken from the portion of <br /> the Mashpee River immediately downstream from Route 130 and adjacent to the <br /> Indian Museum parking lot. <br /> 7. ENFORCEMENT—The regulations for the taking of fish will be enforced by the <br /> Herring Warden (and deputies), the Mashpee Police Department and the Division of <br /> Environmental law Enforcement Officers. <br /> 8. VIOLATIONS -The taking of herring is a privilege. Any abuse or violations of these <br /> rules and regulations can result in the revocation of such privileges for a two-year <br /> period from the date of such abuse or violation by vote of the Board of Selectmen, <br /> upon recommendation of the Herring Warden. This is in addition to any other <br /> penalties that may apply. <br /> 9.
