4
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
March 27, 2000
APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS:
Cape Light Compact:
Charlotte Streile, Selectman of the Town of Yarmouth and
Maggie Downey, Assistant County Administrator were present
to discuss the benefits of the Cape Light Compact with members
of the Board and interested public.
The Electric Supply Agreement presented to the Selectmen is a
four-year contractual agreement. Upon expiration, an extension may be
negotiated or the Town would have the option to develop another request
for proposal.
In addition to direct financial savings, the Town will have opportunities
for green power, pilot programs and long term leverage in market and
industry advancement.
The agreement is an option for all consumers at prices below
Commonwealth Electric's standard offer price. The benefit of
customer aggregation will provide choice for individual consumers.
It was noted that customer participation is voluntary. The residential
start of service is expected to begin in September of 2000.
Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to authorize the Chairman
of the Board of Selectmen to execute the Electric Supply Agreement
with Select Energy and the Cape Light Compact in substantially
the form contained in the draft dated March 9, 2000 on behalf of the
Town of Mashpee and to approve minor, non-substantive changes to
such agreement, provided, however, that such execution shall not take
place until after approval of such Electric Supply Agreement by the
Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy.
Motion seconded by Selectman Leveille.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
